What is family mediation?

You first!

We listen to your story and help you understand all your options, whether these are legal options, mediation or other.  If you have already separated or you are thinking of separating we can contacts that can help you through the emotional, financial and legal support.

You and your children are our primary focus and that every family member has different needs to be able to move on.  You now have to move on from the romantic relationship to the business of being co-parents.  This is a new journey for you and one that our Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner will assist.

Our mediators

Each of our mediators are qualified and registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners so that we can issue a Section 60(i) certificate if it is needed.  Private family mediation is a quick and cost effective way to address your differences and negotiate your agreements.

What is a Parenting Plan?

As separating parents you need to decide how you will share the care of your children.  The Family Law Act 1975 (Cth) encourages all parents to mediate prior to initiating any court procedures.  A parenting plan is a legally written agreement detailing the arrangements you wish to put into place for your children.  Parenting plans work because they are made by YOU not a court!  They can be as detailed or as brief as you need by having an agreed plan can significantly minimise the amount of conflict your children are exposed to.

Property and FInancial Settlements

You need to reach an agreement with each other on how the assets and/or liabilities of the relationship are going to be split between the two of you.  Don't get lost in legal jargon, we are here to help you understand the legal language especially those factors that the Family Court considers in assessing whether your agreement is just and equitable.  I would be a waste of time to negotiate an agreement which the Court would not accept.  Our mediators all have legal training and understand your rights and obligations.  We work with you to guide you and your partner towards an agreement which the Court will find acceptable..
